About Us
About Seampoint
We discovered that work has a grammar. Our mastery of that grammar helps us identify where AI creates value in work and where it doesn't.
Seampoint is a research and advisory firm that helps organizations identify where AI delegation is appropriate, design governance protocols for safe deployment, and build the workforce fluency to operate effectively on both sides of the human–AI boundary.
Our Mission
The gap is where most AI initiatives stall
93%
of enterprise tasks have technical AI exposure
27%
are safe for immediate deployment
Getting beyond this Governance Discount gap requires careful analysis and design of the boundary between the AI technologies themselves and the people, systems, and processes around them. Seampoint exists to close this gap.
How we got here
The insight behind Seampoint came from studying the same boundary question across three different domains: autonomous vehicles, AI coding agents, and knowledge work automation. In each case, the critical design question wasn't the capability of the AI. It was the operating protocol at the boundary between human and machine.
The pattern was consistent: value and risk concentrate at the boundaries between different kinds of actors. Locate the boundary correctly and you unlock leverage. Get it wrong and you get failure. We call those boundaries seampoints.
That observation led to a large-scale research effort: 18,898 tasks across 848 occupations and 148 million American workers, scored against four governance constraints, quantifying $3.24 trillion in annual AI opportunity. The methodology is published in The Distillation of Work.
Every seampoint is controlled by four constraints that exist independently of AI capability. A world-class model cannot be safely deployed without addressing each one. These four constraints are what separate deployable AI from theoretical AI. They are the basis of every engagement we run.
What governs every AI boundary
Four constraints that exist independently of AI capability
Consequence of error
A misdrafted email is recoverable. A misclassified tumor is not. The stakes determine the architecture.
Verification cost
Can you check AI's work without redoing it? When verification costs equal the efficiency gained, the economic case collapses.
Accountability requirements
A physician cannot transfer malpractice liability to an algorithm. Some tasks require human authority regardless of what the AI can do.
Operational reality
Does the task require manipulating physical materials in unstructured environments? Better models won't change that constraint soon.
Why now
In January 2026, insurers began writing AI exclusion clauses into commercial liability policies, not in response to AI failures, but in response to organizations deploying AI without designed boundaries. Those clauses now cover the majority of the U.S. property and casualty market. Seam design is no longer optional. It is a condition of insurability, a fiduciary expectation, and an operational requirement for any firm that intends to deploy AI beyond pilot programs.
Who we are
Seampoint's team brings experience across AI strategy, enterprise operations, AI fluency training, workforce development, and governance design. Meet the team.
Where to start
We work with leaders in manufacturing, healthcare, regional finance, and professional services who know AI matters but need a reliable method for determining where to begin and how to govern what they build. If that sounds like your situation, start a conversation.
